Of Finishing and Dreaming

Dreaming of the day I will feel as if I can start something new. The passion and the inspiration aren't with me this year, so as not to waste time, I decided I ought to finish things I had started. I wish I could say it was rewarding to see projects come to a close, or at least to a semi-completed stage, but so far, I can only say they are done and out of my to do list.

So far, the last block of the Nearly Insane quilt. One hundred and ninety one pieces. No wonder it was left for last!. I still need an accurate count of the pieces sewn so far, I am guessing it is slightly over 3000:

A cross stitch I had started at least two years ago. It's a Prairie Schooler design of one of my favorite animals, a bee. It's still in need of rinsing, ironing and framing.

And an ongoing project that has been put in the backburner for nine years. I'm hand quilting the border, and would love to see it finished before it gets too hot to sit with a queen size quilt on my lap, even if I don't get to sleep under it this year:

I did make another set of five pillow covers for my godmother. She chose fuchsia as the main color. It's been interesting to work a little outside my comfort zone, with a Jinny Beyer print and a mottled nearly solid. They are on their way home now. I can say I don't think I'll be making any more pillows in the near future. Total pillow count this year: twelve.

I can't say it's all been gloom and doom, though. I have had a great time cutting hexagons for a very special quilt my friend Jeri is making. I'll move on to another post to share photos of the process.

Sigo soñando que va a llegar el día en que me sienta motivada para empezar algo nuevo. Me está faltando la inspiración y la pasión este año. Para no sentirme totalmente bloqueada, decidí terminar cosas que tenía empezadas. Me gustaría poder decir que me está gustando ver cosas llegar a su fin, o por lo menos a un punto medio, pero lo único que me viene a la mente es que por lo menos las puedo quitar de la lista de proyectos a medias.

He terminado el último bloque del Nearly Insane. Con ciento noventa y una piezas, no me extraña que lo dejase hasta el final. Tengo que sentarme a sumar el número de piezas totales, creo que van a ser unas tres mil y algo. También terminé un cuadro de punto de cruz de Prairie Schooler con uno de mis animales favoritos, la abeja. Y estoy acolchando a mano un edredón que lleva empezado nueve años. Estoy acolchando el borde y espero tenerlo terminado antes de que haga mucho calor y no me pueda sentar con un edredón de matrimonio en las rodillas.

También terminé otros cinco cojines para mi madrina. Eligió un color que se sale un poco de mi zona de comfort, un rosa fucsia como color foco. Usé una tela estampada de Jinny Beyer y una con un estampado como de manchas de color en burdeos. Ya van de camino a su destinataria. Creo que no voy a volver a hacer cojines en una buena temporada. Doce este año.

No es que todo sean obligaciones... he disfrutado como una enana cortando hexágonos para un quilt muy especial que ha empezado mi amiga Jeri. Voy a poner otro post con un mini paso a paso.
