The Lives And Times Of A Quilter's Cats

Random thoughts of three or four cats and I about the importance of wearing slippers if you happen to share your home with a quiltmaker who drops pins, and other similar and related nonsense, from fabric to gardening and of course, about the cats who inspire all this madness. En inglés y en español.

Pink In Spring

It's done! As of this afternoon, the binding is finished, it's been washed and dried and it just needs a label. The technical details: machine pieced, hand quilted, 64" x 64" (it shrunk a lot with the heavy quilting and the wash). One of the red fabrics did run a little, in spite of being prewashed, but it's not very noticeable.

Acabado!

Quilting Winter Blues Away

Three weeks now, I've quilted twenty nine blocks. So much pink, it chases the winter blues away.
Nothing beats quilting a big quilt during those long winter nights. Even the cats agree and sit between my legs and the hoop.

Empecé hace tres semanas y llevo veintinueve bloques acolchados.

Two pictures

Here it is, the whole thing, pink as all get out! My mom liked Musgo's quilt so much, I've decided to give her this one as well (for her, not for my little brother :)

And here is a page of the quilt journal, four years ago almost to the date:

But Have You Ever Seen A Panther That Is Pink? Think!

"Has mother slipped a cog? That is so PINK!". Shrillbert was thinking outloud while looking at the design wall when I was taking pictures. Maybe he was reading my mind... it's really very, extremely, almost obnoxiously pink!

I started sewing rows this week. Admittedly, the color isn't as loud as it appears in the picture, but no doubt, it looks as if a bottle of Pepto Bismol exploded in my room. I wasn't all that sure at first, but it's growing on me, slowly but surely.

Meanwhile, Phoebe decided to blame it on the overdose of catnip. Maybe it affected us both? :) Here she is, a few days ago, helping me clean up some catnip seeds.
